    Theo Padnos: The Prison Notebooks

    In October of 2012 the al Qaeda organisation in Syria tried Theo Padnos, an American journalist, on espionage charges, then sentenced him to death. Padnos comes from Vermont to talk about how to survive in terrible conditions, and about his writing in captivity.

    Theo Padnos is the author of Blindfold: A Memoir of Capture, Torture and Enlightenment and My life had stood a loaded gun, a memoir of his experiences teaching in prison. After his release, Theo Padnos spent time convalescing in Folkestone.

    Theo will be joined by Erwin James, the author of Redeemable: A memoir of darkness and hope and Editor in Chief of Inside Time, the newspaper for people in prison.
