Always dreamed of buried treasures? This event promises to unveil the secrets of finding extraordinary artefacts in the most unexpected places from two writers who are dedicated to their unusual hobbies – mudlarking and metal detecting.
The American writer and expert mudlark Jason Sandy, author of Mudlarks: Treasure from the Foreshore will be joined by acclaimed travel writer and metal detectorist, Nigel Richardson – author of The Accidental Detectorist: Uncovering an Underground Obsession.
Jason Sandy will share captivating stories and insights from his adventures along the Thames, revealing the historical artefacts and personal treasures that lie hidden beneath the surface.
Nigel Richardson will complement this with his own reflections on the joys and surprises of exploring nature’s hidden corners along with wider questions of place and belonging.
Chaired by Dr Lindsay Banfield of the Canterbury Archaeological Trust, who leads digs in Folkestone at East Wear Bay, this engaging conversation will explore the thrill and responsibility of discovery.
Whether you are an avid treasure hunter or simply curious about the hidden stories beneath our feet, this event will fill you with passionate knowledge and spark your imagination.
