We support many events over the course of the academic year from conferences and public lectures to book signings and author events. Recently authors have included Louis de Bernières, John Boyne and Anthony Browne. Public lectures have ranged from talks given by Anne Widdecombe to Shami Chakrabarti.
We work with our academic departments as well as outside organisations. As such we provide bookstalls to the Canterbury Festival in October and the Folkestone Book Festival in November. Our links with community groups have led to involvement with events such as Deal Noir, a local crime-writing festival; and the Canterbury History Weekend which has featured many well-known historians (including Alison Weir, Janina Ramirez, Anna Keay, and Dan Jones)
Look out for ‘Writing Comes Alive’ hosted at the Sidney Cooper Gallery where contemporary novelists come to CCCU to discuss their novels and answer your questions on their creative writing process. Authors have included Esther Freud, Sophie Hannah, Lawrence Norfolk, Tibor Fischer, Peter Benson, and Stav Sherez. Publisher 'roadshows' with editors and authors have included evenings with Salt Publishing and Orenda Books.
All our events – including many pictures – are posted to @cccubookshop on Twitter.
