How do you build up tension in a horror or thriller? Do you have to be a monster to write about monstrous characters?
Alice Slater worked as a real-life bookseller for six years. She is a co-host of literary podcast ‘What Page Are You On?. Catriona Ward is the only woman to have won the August Derleth Award for Best Horror Novel three times, for her books Rawblood, Little Eve and The Last House on Needless Street; her fourth book Sundial won the International Thriller Writers Association award for best novel.
