This study explores the personal and professional lives of Richard Aldington and H.D. through their intimate correspondence between 1918 and 1961, including extensive biographical commentary of one of the 20th century's most fascinating literary couples and pioneers of modernist literature. This expanded single volume paperback edition includes all previously presented material plus new letters and photographs. It includes details of their friendships, and topics which concerned them both: cultural identity, sexuality, war and the role of literature in the modern world. The text acts as a "dual biography" which tells a story in its own right as well as complementing any study of Aldington's or H.D's work, or that of their modernist contemporaries.
